FAQ

Do you offer in-person or telehealth sessions?

Clients have found that doing therapy online is safe, convenient, and as effective as in-person therapy. Currently, I provide the majority of my therapy via Zoom. I provide in-person visits that are intensive sessions (3 hours in length) on Fridays. These are the only in-person sessions available.

How long is a therapy session?
Therapy sessions run for 50 minutes. I reserve the remaining 10 minutes for scheduling purposes, note-taking, and other documentation.
Do you take insurance?
I am not “in-network” with any third-party payers. But I am happy to provide you with a “super-bill” (invoice/receipt) that can be submitted to your insurance independently by you. Reach out to your insurance to get more information on whether or not they will reimburse you.
What is your cancellation policy?

I require that you cancel 48 hours in advance. If you cancel within the 48-hour window before your appointment, I will charge you the full fee for the session.

Please email, text, or call to let us know if an emergency has occurred. I will be reasonable with you should you encounter extenuating circumstances.

Can I meet my therapist before I spend money?
I offer a FREE 15- to 30-minute phone call or Zoom session to help you determine if we will be a good fit.
How much do your sessions cost?

$200 per 50-minute session

With what age ranges do you work?
I am happy to work with anyone over 15 years old. I work best with folks over the age of 40 years and older.
What treatment models do you use?
I use the Gottman Method, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Training, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.
What is your professional training and experience?
I studied and received my Masters’s of Social Work at the University of Utah. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I’ve worked extensively in substance abuse rehabilitation and separately in pornography addiction/misuse.
Do you do couples therapy for polyamorous or open relationships?
Let’s talk over the phone about your specific needs. If you are not a pair of individuals, meaning two people, then I will offer you a workshop or group therapy.
Do you use cats in your therapy?
I let my cats jump on the screen at times. Cheeto (orange short hair tabby) and Feebie (black short hair tabby) are my co-therapists. If you’re lucky, you might get to meet one or both of them at some point!
What do you suggest if my spouse is the problem?
Your spouse is never THE PROBLEM, but their behaviors might be problematic. Abuse and violence are never appropriate, and I always direct/assist people to safety before therapy. If you’re not in an abusive relationship, I highly recommend considering how your behaviors might be problematic. Call me so that we can look at it together.
I read the 5 Love Languages. Do I still need therapy?
Congratulations! Yes. Reading that book is helpful but really only covers a small portion of what you can do to really improve your relationship with your partner.
The Beatles or The Beach Boys?
Paul, John, George, and Ringo.
Who influenced you the most in Psychology?
My influences include John and Julie Gottman, Gabor Mate, Carl Rogers, Carl Jung, Fred Luskin, Martin Seligman, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Elizabeth Loftus, Brené Brown, Esther Perel, Pia Mellody, Alan Watts, and Sue Johnson.
